Welcome to our weekend rides

All weekend rides meet at Euxton Mills. Routes are posted on the events page a few days before the event.

Each Saturday group follows a different route, due to the differing lengths and difficulties of the rides. Sunday rides each follow the same route, with groups running faster to slower, so that any rider struggling may fall back to the group behind.

The suggested average speeds are approximate for a 50 mile ride (less for the social ride), over flat to slightly rolling terrain. Average speeds may differ slightly from those stated, based on terrain, group ability, weather conditions or a combination of various factors.

Prospective club members may join for 3 complimentary club rides of their choice before joining. After such time, you must become a club member to continue riding with CCC.

Start 9am year round

Social Ride

Our club Social Ride is open to all members, new and existing. We try to keep to quiet lanes, covering about 30-40 miles, including a stop at a café for refreshments.

Our Social Ride is generally ran on a flat to gently rolling route. The aim of these events is to provide a relatively short, easier paced ride, suitable for newcomers, riders who are not yet confident of being able to ride with the main club runs, riders returning to cycling, or those who are still gaining cycling fitness. The rides are intended as an introduction to cycling with the club and a group, not as an introduction to cycling. A minimum level of fitness is required.

As a guide, participants should be comfortable completing solo rides of 15 miles in approximately 1.5 hours before attempting one of our social rides. We do not leave anybody behind, but a reasonable rate of progress is expected to be made.

• Expected Avg speed ≈13mph

• For new or existing members. A steady paced ride

Social Progression Ride

The Social Progression Rides are open to all members. They take a small step up in pace / difficulty from the Social ride, covering 40- 60miles. They are intended to provide a slight extra challenge to those that want it, and for those looking to step up a level, start the journey from the Social Ride to Ride C and beyond. The hope is that new members and time limited, irregular riders, can build up their endurance and eventually speed, to join other rides, if they wish.

There will be occasions on the routes where we will stop to gather the group together and also official extended stopping points to replenish our empty stomachs and refill our drinks bottles. Expect a pace similar to the Social rides, pushing a little above the 13mph mark.

• Expected Avg speed ≈13+mph

• Every Saturday

• A slightly more challenging Social Ride, and to aid progress to Ride C if this is desired.

Ride C (Saturday)

Ride C is a step up from the Social Progression Ride, suitable to anyone who would average ≈15mph on a 50 mile flat route. Typically, the ride will be 50 to 70+ miles long, with the odd longer ride in the summer. There will always be a cafe stop to replenish food stocks, drinks bottles and to rest weary legs. The ride will be ridden as a group, at a controlled pace, with regrouping when required.
